Chuna Rai-Nelson is the founder of HWC. She was born and grew up in Hong Kong but continued her higher education in Nepal and India. Her yoga journey began over 36 years ago when she went to Pune, India to take her first formal yoga training.  Since then she has devoted her life to learning and spreading the sadhna of yoga.  She opened her first public studio in 2007 and has been training teachers in 200 and 500 hour certified courses since then.

Teacher Training Details

Chuna has founded her teaching training program in Traditional Yogic Principles.  Emphasis is placed on teaching yoga history and philosophy (six systems in details), the eight limbs of yoga, yoga sutras Patanjali and the many different styles of yoga. The 200 level course semester spans approximately 10 training weeks, at least 200 hours.  Upon completion, all trainees will be afforded the opportunity to teach several public classes at the HWC studio and assistance will be provided by the HWC management for job placement opportunities.

2018 Spring Teacher Training Format and Schedule

  • Training Dates TBD.
  • Classes will be held at the HWC studio on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and some weekends
  • Class times are from 9AM-4PM
  • Your attendance can be flexible, so long as you achieve 20 hours a week during scheduled classes
  • Trainees will teach several public classes at the HWC studio before and after graduation
  • One day yoga retreat and / or hiking trip near the end of training
