Ashtanga literally translated means 'eight-limbed yoga', referring to the eight aspects of spiritual yogic practice as taught by the great sage Patanjali. This series is credited as the genesis of modern Indian yoga, and is characterized by a fixed set of poses executed in swift succession, combined with deep, controlled breathing used to create an inner warmth within the body. This is a deeply satisfying practice, and our veteran instructor Melissa creates an ambiance that truly connects mind, body and spirit.
Kids Yoga, Yogalates, Prenatal Yoga, Electric Flow and Zumba! These classes are where our instructors' true passions come through the studio and into your practice. Ranging from gentle and restorative to high intensity pilates style workouts, the specialty classes are a fun way to mix up your yoga practice!
Yogalates is a blend of yoga and pilates designed to strengthen your muscles, tone your body and stretch your mental limits. Strenuous yoga postures are mixed with pilates style exercises to create a high intensity workout specifically designed to help eliminate back problems, kyphosis and excess fat. Quads, abs, hamstrings and glutes are all muscles directly involved with keeping the spine aligned and are targeted in a balanced manner throughout the class. Accessible to all students looking for a high cardio workout.
Yoga for mothers-to-be and the family that supports them. Modified postures allow a vinyasa style flow to be performed safely while maintaining all the benefits of a standard class. Dads welcome too!
This unique approach to yoga will energize you for the week ahead! Led by new instructor Crista Ortega, a recent graduate from Chuna's teacher training program, the class will flow hatha yoga postures to the tunes of electronic music by candlelight. All yogis, first time and seasoned, are welcome and encouraged to come participate in a relaxed class atmosphere.
Dance class at the yoga studio!! Come have some fun with this dance / workout class taught by long time professional Ronda Frandsen. High energy and high calorie burning, it's the perfect way to practice your moves and get into your groove!
The Himalayan Yoga class is our way of saying 'Instructors Choice'. We place this on the schedule during time slots that have instructors rotate through periodically. Think of it as a freestyle class in which both the instructors and students can discuss what type of practice is best for that moment. This class has even been known to become a discussion of yoga philosophy followed by a period of silent meditation. Bring your mat and your ideas and help create a class tailored for your needs!
